Your new hair color has already begun to fade, you are tired of it, and you want to get rid of it as soon as possible? You can accelerate this process and remove unwanted hair dye with a few tricks from your kitchen.
We all know that the hair dye fades in time, but what happens when we do not like the color, we want to be brighter, and we want to remove it as soon as possible and move to a new one? Regardless of your reasons for faster removal, you can look for first aid in your kitchen. If you want to accelerate the hair dye removal (this works especially well with half-day paint), then reach out for vinegar, vitamin C, coconut oil and baking soda.
4 Natural Ingredients That Can Help You Remove Your Hair Dye
You can use any type of vinegar for this process (we recommend white vinegar). The acid in the vinegar will help you remove the dye. Moreover, it will not damage your scalp or hair, as you can do with some hair dye removers. Mix vinegar and water in a ratio of 1: 1, and apply this mixture to your hair. Wrap your head, cover with a plastic bag and let it work for 15 to 20 minutes. If the color doesn’t fade as much as you wanted, make a stronger solution with more vinegar and less water and repeat the process.
- Vitamin C
Although some people use fresh lemon juice for this treatment, it is more effective to use vitamin C tablets. This treatment is especially effective, for those who dyed their hair with darker color and want to get rid of it as soon as possible. Take a few (5 to 10) tablets of vitamin C and place them in a bowl, then pour a little bit of water. Crush them with a spoon until you get a paste. Apply this paste on wet hair, then place a plastic bag (or a shower cap). Leave it to work for an hour. Afterwards, wash your hair as you usually do.
This method works best if you remove the hair dye a few days after the color treatment (if you do not like what your hair looks like and want a quick change). Of course, Do not expect miracles but surely you will notice a great difference.
- Coconut oil
In addition to being great for hair, coconut oil can help you remove the dye from the hair faster. In hot water warm the coconut oil (leave it for 2 to 3 minutes). When the oil is warm (only make sure it is not hot) apply it to your hair with an applicator (dropper). Then, cover your head, wrap it in a hot towel and let it work for an hour. You will probably have to toss this towel because the color will stick to it. You can repeat the procedure as many times as you want.
- Baking soda
It is used for washing hair, but it is also effective in removing hair dye. It works best when mixed with the shampoo you normally use. Usually, mix 1 tbsp baking soda with 1 tsp shampoo. However, you will not immediately remove the color, but you will accelerate the fading process. You can repeat the procedure a few days later.
Note: Some of these ingredients can dry off your hair, that’s why it’s important to provide hydration after each treatment. Castor, coconut, argan, Abyssinian and almond oil are the best options for dry hair and scalp.
