Black stains and clothes deposits on your iron can make a big problem. This, of course, makes ironing difficult and you can burn and damage your new clothes, so it’s important to properly clean the bottom of the iron without spending too much money and time.
The bottom of the iron is really not difficult to clean, and we’ll show you several ways to do it. You can choose the one that suits you most.
5 Methods For Iron Cleaning
- Dish detergent
First, you should mix warm water with a little bit of mild dish detergent in a bowl. Then, dip a cotton pad in this soapy mixture and gently wipe the bottom of the iron. Rub it briefly if necessary. This method of cleaning is ideal for Teflon coated iron. If your iron is dirtier, you should select a different cleaning method.
What you should do is to apply a little toothpaste on the bottom of the iron. Afterward, rub the area with a cotton cloth to soften the dirt. Once you’ve done that wipe the iron using warm water and then turn it on the steam and iron a cotton cloth for 5 minutes.
- Paracetamol tablets
For this trick, you will need one tablet of paracetamol and tweezers. You just need to heat the iron well, take the pill and with the help of tweezers, so that you do not burn your fingers, you should start rubbing the tablet on the iron stain stains.
The dark stains will soon be converted into a liquid. Then, just wipe your iron with a damp cloth (that was soaked into salty water mixture).
- Baking soda
You should mix equal parts of baking soda and water, and then apply this paste on the bottom of the iron. Rub it with a cotton cloth until it is cleaned.
What you need to do is to take one tablespoon of coarse sea salt and place it on a piece of paper. Then, turn your iron to maximum temperature without a steam and gently press it on the salt. Move the iron just as you do when you ironing your clothes. Repeat the procedure if it’s necessary. The dark stains of your iron will disappear all most immediately.
