Every day, most of us buy fruit and vegetables treated with pesticides. Still, there are ones that are a bit more dangerous than the others. With pesticides, manufacturers spray fruits and vegetables to repel and kill insects. It has been proven that they are harmful to the human body, especially in large quantities. Some more dangerous pesticides can significantly damage your digestive system, and in long-term worst-case scenario cause cancer.
It would be best to buy organic products or at least locally, from certified manufacturers. However, we are not able at all time to organize our diet that way.
We bring you a list of fruit and vegetables, which is usually most treated with pesticides. You shouldn’t buy these foods in markets but buy them strictly from proven, domestic, organic origin.
But if you can’t, learn how to remove as much pesticide from the fruit and vegetable as possible.
List Of Ingredients That Are Treated With More Pesticide
Foods that have the most pesticide residues are blueberries, strawberries, peaches, kale, green leafy vegetables, and celery. But this group includes tomatoes, apples, cucumbers, nectarines, grapes, potatoes, peppers, cherries and spinach.
It is advisable to buy at least some of these foods from the proven domestic producers or to have proven organic origin.
How To Clean Them
Since we cannot always buy organic, both because of money and sometimes because of unavailability, we need to learn how to clean and remove as many pesticides as possible from the fruits and veggies.
The simplest way is to wash vegetables and fruits are to soak them in a bowl filled with water where you add a little bit of apple cider vinegar (or white vinegar).
One effective way to clean them is to soak the foods for 10 minutes in water. In this water, you should dissolve a little sea salt and lemon juice. Afterward, rinse them with lukewarm water.
A bit more complicated, but also a very effective way to clean the fruit and vegetables is to treat them with a special DIY mixture. You can make this mixture by adding one cup of water, 2 tablespoons of white vinegar, and one teaspoon of baking soda and 5-10 drops of grapefruit seeds essential oil. Put this mixture in a spray bottle, and then spray your fruits and vegetables. Leave it for an hour, and then rinse them well water.
How much do you pay attention to what kind of vegetables and fruit are you buying? Did you know which of them had the most pesticides? Do you believe that in this way you can at least mitigate the risk of pesticides? If you know any other effective method for removing pesticide residue please share it with us.
