From minerals they contain iron, calcium, and magnesium that are very important for the vegetarian diet and people who are allergic to gluten. Besides, it a suitable ingredient for diabetics because it has a low glycemic index.

For this recipe you will need the following ingredients:

– 1 ¼ cups of cooked chickpeas
– 6 tablespoons of maple syrup or agave syrup
– ¼ cup peanut butter
– 3 tablespoons cocoa powder (unsweetened)
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 2 tablespoons almond milk (you can use coconut milk as well)
– ¼ teaspoon sea salt or Himalayan salt

First thing first, if you don’t know how to cook the chickpeas here are some guidelines. Place the raw chickpeas in a bowl and fill the bowl with water. Leave them to soak overnight. Afterward, in the morning strain the peas and rinse them with water. Next, take a pan and add 3 cups of water, put it on the stove and let it simmer. Then add the chickpeas and cook them for about an hour, or until they start to soften.

Your cooked chickpeas are ready. For the following step, you will need a blender or food processor. Put all the ingredients in the food processor. Pulse until all of the mixture is nicely combined and homogenized.

Transfer the mixture into an appropriate container and place it in the fridge. Remove it in the morning and serve it as a sweet and delicious spread. We personally find it very tasty when used on unsalted rice or corn cakes as an alternative to bread. Enjoy!
