The Best Gluten Free Double Chocolate Banana Bread With Ton Of Chocolate

When a couple of bananas are in your fridge, “read: for eternity”  one of the easiest ways to use them is to make the best chocolate banana bread. This banana bread is incredibly juicy and ultimately chocolatey because it contains a large amount of cocoa. Moreover, it contains a good amount of dark chocolate as well.

However, it’s very important to purchase high-quality cocoa and dark chocolate in order for this recipe to work. This bread is even tastier after one day, so you can serve it as a dessert or as breakfast, with a cup of milk or coffee.

Double Chocolate Banana Bread Recipe

You will need the following ingredients:

Dry ingredients:

  • 70 g oatmeal or oat flour
  • 40 g rice flour
  • 80 g ground almonds or walnuts
  • 20 g starch flour (cornstarch, or potato starch)
  • 20 g organic cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Half a teaspoon of baking soda
  • Half a teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Wet ingredients:

  • 3 medium or 4 small ripe bananas
  • 55 ml of milk
  • 50 g honey or maple syrup
  • 2 eggs
  • 70 ml – coconut oil
  • 50-60 g chopped dark chocolate (70-80% cocoa)
  • Dark chocolate chips (optional)


Preheat the oven to 175 °C, and lightly coat the loaf pan measuring about 20x10cm (or slightly larger) and line it up with baking paper.  Next, add all of the dry ingredients in one bowl. Put them in a food processor or a blender and pulse.

Then, mash the ripe bananas well with a fork. In a large bowl, lightly whip the eggs with a hand whisk. Add the liquid sweetener, oil, milk, and mashed banana. Stir nicely so the ingredients combine.

Mix the dry and wet ingredients, and add the chopped chocolate. Mix again, and pour the mixture into the loaf pan. Afterward, sprinkle some chocolate chips on top of it and put it in the oven. Bake 35-45 minutes at 175 ° C, and if you know your oven is too strong, reduce it to 165 or 170 ° C. However, when you notice a nice smell, check with a toothpick if the bread is baked.  The toothpick should be a little bit wet from the mixture without any remains.

Remove the bread from the oven and leave in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, take it out from the pan remove the paper and let it cool down completely. After that, serve it with a cup of tea or coffee. Because this banana bread is somehow more like a cake, and it doesn’t need any topping.
