Easily Grow Your Organic And Bleach-Free Garlic From A Single Clove At Home

In addition to being one of the healthiest foods, garlic is also one of the easiest foods to grow at your home. Your homegrown garlic is cheaper than in a store, but it is also much healthier. In stores you can find Chinese garlic which is full of chemicals and pesticides and loses its healing powers, that’s why it’s best to grow your own garlic.

In this article, we will show you how to do it in the simplest way.

How To Grow Garlic At Home

The garlic is divided into ten cloves and clinging densely together forms a circular shape. Each clove is wrapped in a protective shell and all cloves together are connected by the same protective shell.

Unlike the onion that grows only from its seed, garlic grows only vegetatively. To grow garlic, you should use a clove from it.

You can choose organic garlic or seed garlic.  If you chose organic garlic cloves here’s the procedure of growing. Split the head of the garlic into cloves and each one of them, sow it vertically with a call-up at a depth of 2.5 cm. You should plant the pointy tips of the cloves upwards. Then, cover all the cloves with the soil.

You can plant your garlic in the fall or spring because it allows the roots of the garlic to sprout during the colder days. Your garlic roots will start to develop during the fall and in the summer it will be ready for harvest. For example, if you plant the garlic in October, you will collect it in June. Water the plant once a week if there is no rain. Keep in mind that the garlic doesn’t want too much water, so dump soil will prevent it from growing. You should consider using some sort of pesticide to protect it from mice and insects. However, choose organic and natural pesticide to avoid any chemical residue afterward.

Cut leaves when they rise to about 8-10 cm in size from about 2.5 cm in order to grow again. Leaves will stop growing at some point. When they dry up and become brown, dig the garlic you planted and you will find a full head of it. You should store your harvested garlic in a dry and cool place and it will last for a very long time. You can use it whenever you cook a meal or make some sort of remedy that includes garlic.
