Magnesium is important for all organs, and especially for the proper functioning of the heart, muscles, kidneys, teeth and bones. Like fuel, this mineral stimulates the metabolism, and manages the functioning of our muscles and nerves.
Health experts say that magnesium is one of the most important minerals for the human body. Otherwise, it’s deficiency will inevitably cause muscle cramps and pain, which are not very pleasant, and it can lead to improper heart and kidney function. In addition, this mineral plays an important role in bone calcium binding and relaxation of muscles, participates in regulation of heart rate and lowering of cholesterol levels. Thus, it is necessary to regularly (daily) supply our organism with an adequate amount of magnesium enriched food or water.
Regular intake of adequate amounts of magnesium can help the human body overcome headaches, migraines, muscle pain… We can safely say that it can help us overcome pain in general.
Let’s say you struggle with migraine. What you should know is that the concentration of magnesium in the blood and tissues affects the serotonin receptors in the brain, involved in the migraine process. Studies suggest that nearly 50 percent of people suffering from migraine have a low concentration of this mineral in the blood. And, that these people notice significant improvement once they start taking magnesium regularly.
In addition, magnesium stops the inflammation processes in the human body, which in turn helps reduce back pain, muscle cramps and weakness caused by fibromyalgia.
Some studies even suggest that it can help soothe pain in conditions like pancreatic cancer.
You can find this mineral present in whole grains, nuts, seeds, legumes and green vegetables. Also, if you’re deficient, you can take supplements, or apply it topically on your body, in the form of body creams and lotions.
Homemade Magnesium Cream
We recommend you using this cream for pain relief, such as muscle cramps, aching and tired legs, headaches and migraines. All you need to do is rub the aching area with the cream and leave it to do its magic.
For the preparation, you’ll need the following:
– 1/4 organic coconut oil
– 1/2 cup magnesium chloride flakes
– 3 tbsp. boiling water
– 3 tbsp. Shea butter
– 2 tbsp. beeswax
Put the magnesium chloride flakes in a plastic container and add the boiling water. Mix to combine. Once the flakes dissolve, you should get a thick liquid. Leave it to cool down.
Add the coconut oil, Shea butter and beeswax in a double boiler, and put it on medium heat. Stir until the ingredients melt down. Remove the double boiler from the heat and set it aside, until the mixture reaches room temperature.
Transfer the oil mixture into a blender and start blending. Slowly add the thick magnesium fluid, starting with a drop or two at a time. Blend until you add all the fluid into the oil mixture, and until it’s well-combined.
Put the resulting mixture into the fridge for about 20 minutes, and then blend it again, to get a thick, consistent cream. Transfer it in a mason jar and store it in the fridge. Apply whenever necessary.
