5 Ingredients That Dye Your Hair Naturally Without Harsh Chemicals

Hair coloring is fun but also can be harmful, especially if you use chemical dyes too often. It is possible to have beautiful and nourished hair (even if you dye it regularly) if your hairdresser knows what he/she’s doing, but from time to time, you need a break from the hair salon – to save money, but also give your hair a break.

More and more women are avoiding chemical hair dyes and are choosing less harmful solutions that can brighten or darken your hair. Although the methods will not provide long lasting results as traditional colors, the effect is incomparably softer than with chemical dyes, so the chance of damage to the hair is far smaller.

Here are some interesting ways to brighten up or darken your hair without having to worry about hair loss!

5 Natural Hair Dyes

  1. Food color

One completely harmless way to dye your hair without damage is by using edible food colors. The dyeing process itself is very simple – pour the food colors into a plastic container, add a little bit of water or even better vinegar. Then take a dyeing brush and apply on your hair evenly, leave it on hair for at least 30 minutes or longer – to make the color more intense. It is important to know that you shouldn’t wash your hair a day so the edible food color stays for whole 24 hours.

  1. Coffee

If you are a natural brunette, instead of reaching for a color, try to refresh it with the help of coffee. All you have to do is to make a strong espresso and let it cool down. Mix 2 cups of hair conditioner with 1 cup of coffee and 3 teaspoons of freshly ground coffee. Apply everything on your hair – from the roots to the tips, place the plastic bag and let it sit for at least 60 minutes then rinse it with water only.

  1. Nutella

Nutella is so good on pancakes, on bread, or straight out of the jar without anything. However, Nutella can also help us to dye our hair. This ingredient is especially suitable for women with blond hair or blond strains. What you need to do is take a jar of Nutella and in it add one cup of condensed milk then apply it on your hair with a dye brush from roots to tips. Next, put a plastic bag on your hair leave it for 30 minutes. After, massage your scalp with the mixture and wash your hair with water and shampoo.

  1. Cranberry juice or beetroot juice

If you are thinking of becoming a redhead, consider dyeing your hair with cranberry juice or beetroot. For this method you only need 1 cup of 100 percent natural cranberry juice or beetroot juice- apply it directly to your hair or mix it with hydrating components such as coconut oil, olive oil or honey. Place a plastic bag on your head and leave it for a couple of hours so that the color penetrates more intensively. Rinse your hair with lukewarm water and soak up. You will immediately notice the effects of the juice.
