Many say that the kitchen sink is the main pointer on how clean the house is. However, the sink is exposed to the highest dirt degree after the toilet bowl. You wash the dishes in it, clean fruits, vegetables, and fish, sometimes it serves as a repository for dirty dishes. Unfortunately, in most households, kitchen sinks are full of bacteria and microbes.
On top of that, our kitchen sink gets clog too often and spreads unpleasant odor.
Today, it is easiest to buy various chemicals that dissolve dirt in drains, but due to their strength, they can very easily damage the sanitary surfaces, also pollute the environment, and harm your health.
But you can solve this problem in a natural and safe way.
DIY Natural Drain Cleaner
You will need the following ingredients:
– Half a cup of baking soda
– 1 ½ cup of white vinegar
– 2-3 drops of peppermint essential oil
Firstly, if you have a double sink in your kitchen you should close the one you aren’t cleaning with a plug. Then, take the baking soda and toss it into the sink’s drain. If your baking soda is chunky don’t worry it will have the same effect.
Next, pour one cup of white vinegar on top of the baking soda. The ingredients will cause a reaction resulting in bubbles. These bubbles actually clean your drain and sink from grease and dirt that stuck to the drain’s pipe. That’s why you need to leave the ingredients to sit a little. If there are chunks of baking soda left in the sink just pour the rest of the white vinegar ( ½ cup) once again. Leave it to sit for 10-15 minutes and flush it down with some lukewarm water.
Take a stainless steel wool and rub the drain hold with it, so there isn’t any residue left. In the end, you should take the food grade peppermint essential oil and sip a few drops down the drain, to get good smelling pipes. Once again flush them out with water and wipe out your kitchen sink with a dry cloth.
That’s it, you’ve cleaned your kitchen sink completely natural and with minimum effort.
