The conclusions of this work are rather surprising. Drinking a little red wine regularly would protect the cardiovascular health of the consumers, provided that they simultaneously do a little physical exercise. Also, the results showed a noticeable improvement in good cholesterol (HDL) among red wine consumers who were physically active at least twice a week.

Combining moderate consumption of red wine with regular physical exercise improves the markers of atherosclerosis (loss of artery elasticity due to fat accumulation, i.e. essentially bad cholesterol), suggesting that this combination protects against cardiovascular disease.
