We must admit that we prepare sauerkraut in only two or three known ways and our experimentation with it has been completed. We challenge you to try sauerkraut in a completely new way and make these delicious and healthy pancakes from it.
Why Should You Eat Sauerkraut?
This ingredient is an excellent source of vitamins C and K, potassium and calcium. Long before the scientists discovered the vitamin C, sailors were carrying sauerkraut with them to prevent scurvy (vitamin C deficiency).
Sauerkraut strengthens the nerves and stimulates the formation of blood cells. Bacteria of lactic acid from sauerkraut keep the intestinal flora healthy and therefore boost your immunity. It prevents absorption of fat after a meal and thus lowers the level of cholesterol. How To Make Sauerkraut Pancakes
For the following recipe you will need:
- 1 cup of sauerkraut
- One cup of flour (of your choosing, the one you use regularly for pancakes)
- One cup of milk
- One egg
- A pinch of red chili pepper powder (you can use chopped chili pepper as well)
First, add all the ingredients into one large bowl and mix them until they are well combined and the lumps of the flour completely disappear.
Afterwards, take one large pan and pour a little bit of oil (of your choosing, we suggest olive oil) in it. Put the pan on the stove, and let it warm up. Take a spoon of the mixture and add it to the pan. Don’t forget to even out the pancakes with the spoon. Fry the pancakes 1-2 minutes on each side until they have a golden brownish color.
From this mixture, you will get 12 pancakes. Serve them with a scoop of sour cream and enjoy.
