Not much in the world smells better than a fresh baked homemade bread. This fragrance soothes us, returns to our childhood and reminds of some dear people who may no longer be among us. We bring you a recipe for the best homemade bread with buttermilk and honey.
It is the perfect time for testing new and returning to those old good recipes that require little more effort and time.
Homemade Buttermilk And Honey Bread
For this recipe you will need the following ingredients:
- One packet dry yeast
- One teaspoon brown sugar (you can use stevia as well)
- 60 ml of hot water
- A pinch of ginger powder
- 470 ml warm buttermilk
- 5 tablespoons organic honey
- 4 tablespoons melted butter
- A pinch of kosher salt
- ¾ teaspoons of baking soda
- 6 cups of white flour (you can use gluten-free flour as well)
First, mix the ginger powder, yeast, brown sugar or stevia, and water. Then wait for the yeast to activate, for about five minutes. In another bowl, add the buttermilk, baking soda, honey and kosher salt. Mix the ingredients well and then add them to the first mixture.
Afterward, pour 3 cups of flour to this mixture and start blending, so all the ingredients combine nicely. Add the butter and slowly add the remaining three cups of flour constantly mixing to get a smooth dough.
Coat the dough with a little bit of oil, cover it and leave it for one and a half hour.
When the dough is up, it’s time to knead it. Remove the dough from the bowl, divide it into two portions, form two loaves, and place them in two hollow molds. Cover the bread with a cloth and leave for another 45 minutes. As the dough rises, turn on the oven to 200C.
Once the bread is raised, put it in the oven and bake for 30 minutes. You can wrap it with foil during baking to avoid burning too soon.
After half an hour, remove the bread from the oven and cover with melted butter. Last, let it cool inside the oven racks slightly for 10 minutes.
