Insomnia is, unfortunately, most common sleeping disorder. The causes are different, from emotional nature – stress, anxiety, depression are the cause for about 50 percent of the insomnia cases. But daily habits, such as sleep and physical health play an important role. Insomnia can manifest itself by difficulty falling asleep or sleep and wake up during the night and then cannot sleep anymore. Some medicines can also cause insomnia, alcoholic beverages, caffeinated beverages, hormones, and diseases such as asthma, allergy, Parkinson’s disease, malignant disease, kidney disease or chronic pain.
There are a number of home remedies that can help you fight insomnia.
From the lemon grass or lemon balm, as the whole plant is called, it is possible to make an excellent bath that is soothing and recommended to people suffering from insomnia.
The most important medical ingredients are the essential oils citronella and citral, wormwood and tannins that relax muscles, strengthen the heart muscle and have an antibiotic effect. Cook ten teaspoons of lemongrass leaves in one liter of water. Afterwards, leave it to stand for ten minutes, and then strain the liquid. Add this liquid in your bath and soak your body for twenty minutes, before going to bed.
Seeds of cumin have a calming effect that assists in the treatment of insomnia. Many natural remedies for insomnia work better when they are prepared with some other food product or plant. Cumin works best when you mix it with other ingredients.
First cumin remedy
You need one mashed ripe banana and one teaspoon of cumin powder. Mix these ingredients together until you get a paste. Consume 1 tablespoon of this paste before bedtime. Repeat this procedure regularly.
Second cumin remedy
In a small cooking pan warm 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds just make sure you don’t burn them. Then, pour a cup of water and bring the liquid to boil. Remove it from the stove and cover the cooking pan. Let it stand covered for five to seven minutes. Afterwards, strain the liquid and consume it before bedtime.
The tea from valerian against insomnia is certainly more popular, but the valerian can have a strong effect on some people who can be prolonged and in the morning. If you are a newbie you better try chamomile tea first. Chamomile contains apigenin an ingredient that acts sedative and has an effect of a sleeping pill. What you need to do is to add one teaspoon of chamomile flowers in a cup of boiled water. Cover the cooking pan and leave it to stand for 10 minutes. Afterwards, just strain the liquid and consume the tea. You can add a little bit of cinnamon to enhance the taste.
It is a very good natural sedative and is therefore used to sooth the nerves and great therapy for insomnia. Hops reduce restlessness, stress, and nervousness, and encourage sleep by strengthening your nerves. In many countries, people stuff their pillows with hops, because they give a good sleep and fight insomnia. Stuffing your pillow with hops seems a little radical that’s why you should try the hops tea first. You should combine 25 grams of hops and 25 grams of valerian. Then, in 4 liters of boiling water add 3 teaspoons of the tea blend. Let it cool off for 2 hours and then strain the liquid. Consume one cup at night right before bedtime.
