Vinegar Is The Secret To Whiter Whites, Softer Towels And Many Other Laundry Solutions

It’s amazing as the simplest and most natural ingredients in our home proved to be the most effective cleaning products. Lemon juice, baking soda, vodka … It turns out that everyday things like these are the best household helpers when it comes to cleaning.

White vinegar accompanies these three, which we use to clean and disinfect surfaces in our home (diluted with water). However, we learned recently that this vinegar is very useful when it comes to doing your laundry.

White Vinegar As A Powerful Laundry Agent

Did you ever wonder what actually this power ingredient is? Vinegar comes from the French word which means sour wine. It’s obtained by secondary alcohol fermentation. For example, when you open a bottle of wine and you left it open for a long period of time it will ferment and turns into acetic acid. That’s in fact is the vinegar you use. The ph value of white vinegar is 2.5 which makes it a good cleaning household agent.

So here are 5 ways you can use white vinegar for your laundry.

Whiten your clothes

The acid in white vinegar is gentle enough not to destroy the fabric of your clothes but powerful enough so it can remove any soap and detergent residues on the fabric. Just add ½ cup of white vinegar into your softener dispenser before you turn your washing machine on. It will restore the color of your clothes and they will become cleaner and without any grayish undertone.

Remove mildew smell

If you leave your damp towels and clothes into your washing machine it will cause mold formation and mildew smell. To make everything fragrant, put hot water into the washing machine and pour 2 cups of white vinegar. Then, run a complete washing cycle. After, complete a second washing cycle but this time with detergent. You will successfully remove the unpleasant smell from your clothes.

Softer clothes and towels

If you don’t like using softeners for whatever reason, but you like softer fabric white vinegar is the perfect solution. Just pour ½ cup of white vinegar and 2-5 drops of your favorite essential oil into the softener dispenser. This method is so gentle and safe, it can be used even for baby clothes.

Helps against static electricity

Especially in winter, many of our clothes get electrified. Washing them with white vinegar can reduce this effect.

Prevents color transition of newly bought clothes

Ah, this awful mistake… You just bought something and washed it with your “old “clothes. Once you open the washing machine: a disaster everything is colored in a shade of your newly bought piece. To avoid this, soak the newly bought piece into undiluted white vinegar for 10-15 minutes before you add it to the machine. You will completely prevent the leakage of color.

Extra: Remove scale, mold and unpleasant smell

Just like vinegar remove the mildew smell of clothes, it also disinfects and cleans your washing machine. Vinegar effectively eliminates mold and scale, along with the product of these two: the unpleasant smell. What you need to do is pour a glass of vinegar into an empty drum and add baking soda in the detergent dispenser. Run a full washing cycle. That’s it!
